Multi-Generational Impact
In the late 80's my sister had a friend who introduced a new word to our family: windy. "Windy" is a euphamism for passing gas that we all embraced and soon became the primary term we used for describing such an activity (which seemed to come up in our house disproportionately often). And yes, I know my sister spells it "wendy," but I've known too many nice people named "Wendy" (and I'm a huge fan of the Frosty) to feel comfortable doing likewise.
Anyway, Angie also adopted this word as a regular part of her vocabulary, so it was inevitable that my boys would pick it up. And while Michael's been using it for some time, I don't think any of us expected Connor to use it so often and so excitedly quite so early.
It started with him pointing to his rear end and yelling "Wee!" Now he just announces "I windy!"
Angie will sometimes ask him if he needs a new diaper, and he'll say, "No. Windy," although further investigation often proves his claim to be false.
He also has begun enjoying pointing out the windies of others. "Dad windy!"
But he does do a good job of following Angie's attempts at teaching him some basic manners, as "excuse me" just comes out "Me!"
So, Charity Strader, wherever you are, know that you have had an impact on three generations of Guterreses, and counting.
