Chef In Training

Somehow Michael and I discovered yet another game that allows me to just basically lay there while he's entertained for minutes on end. I lay on the floor in his room, with my right foot on his bed (because as you may or may not know, my left foot is wholly untouchable), and he talks to my foot. Even though Angie has tried to correct his grammar, he still calls it "the feet." My foot talks back, although it sounds a lot like Blue from Blue's Clues.

So, the first time we played this game, he's talking away to the feet, saying things like "Feet, are you happy?" and "Feet, do you want to play with me?" then he says, "Feet, do you like a show called Barbecue With Bobby Flay?" What? Where did that come from? It's not like that show gets talked about a lot in our house. It was just so random when he said it. I couldn't stop laughing.

Then, a couple of nights ago I was watching an episode of Good Eats (my favorite cooking show), and the host, Alton Brown, was making oatmeal in his crock pot while he was in bed (why isn't important right now), and Michael came in, saw the TV, and said "Dad, Alton Brown needs to put his glasses back on!" Did you catch that? Not only did he know Alton Brown's name, but he knew that he wears glasses.

Seriously, this kid is going to be a culinary genius. And you can see further evidence of that here, as Michael re-imagines what a corn dog can be.

Journey To The Island Of Sodor

Thomas the Tank Engine was in our area recently, and we went to see him. It was pretty spendy, so only Michael and I rode on the train (in the fifth car behind Thomas).

The boys had a pretty good time, and were making "see you next year" comments as they waved good-bye to Thomas. Here's a few pictures from our day ...

Here Comes The Photo Parade

So, I know you're unlikely to care about any of the technical stuff, but Blogger has a cool new thing where they host the pictures themselves, and you can click on the images you see which will take you to the full versions, which come in handy, ready-to-use wallpaper sizes.

We'll start with a few from a trip to the park the other day ...

Jibber Jabber

Connor's language skills are developing rapidly at this point. Totally understandable are:
"Mom."
"Bye."
"Hi."
"Up."
"Bob," which he uses for both Bob the Tomato and SpongeBob.
"This."
"No."
"Yeah."
And, unfortunately, "Mine!"

Nearly comprehendable (although totally understandable to Angie) are:
"Da" (Dad).
"That."
"Help."
"Ear."
"Nose."
"Mouth.
"Teeth."
"Bye" (for "bite").

I'm sure the list will grow by tomorrow.
